We continue with the hedgehog love today and I direct you to this adorable little softie:

{image credit: Lollychops}
Pattern is provided in a PDF and instructions are well written and illustrated. A Sizzix die cut machine was used to cut out all the little spikes on the back (roughly 65 pieces in total) and each spike is then handsewn on to the body.

Loving the texture on this hedgie, created by the ruffles on the body:

{image credit: Matsutake}
Pattern is in JPEG format and each step of the process is clearly written with excellent photos/diagrams. The ruffles are hand-stitched onto the body after the body has been stuffed and sewn up.

Thank you to Linda for letting me know about some easy to make softies on her website, Pane Amore Creativita.
She has provided tutorials on how to make a felt cube softie, a felt bear softie, and felt finger puppets:

The tutorials are in Italian but you can transalate them into English using one of the translation buttons on her website. Also, these projects are quite easy to follow without the transalation and can be purely hand-sewn.

Jodie, one of my favourite Aussie softie-makers, has posted up the free pattern and instructions to make these sweet little rodents:

{image credit: Ric Rac}
I think I have mentioned before that I am not rodent-friendly but these guys . . . well, they are hard to resist! The project is available in Scribd, which will allow you to view it all on screen or download it or print it off. Instructions are clear and well written. Note that this is a button jointed softie so may not be suitable for young children.

Thanks to Jacqui for letting me know about a fantastic tutorial she has put together for this gorgeous felt rabbit:

{image credit: Hazelnuts}
Doesn’t he remind you of Beatrix Potter’s iconic Jack the Rabbit? This little fella is fully handsewn and therefore makes this a great transportable project. Instructions and pictures are very clear and easy to understand. You can download the tutorial and template as a PDF file also. Jacqui also includes a section on embelishing the rabbit with felt and embroidery with stunning results.

According to Becky, these Summer Travelers “are around 9″ tall. They are perfect to snuggle with, laugh with, and to show the world too. They love to be tucked into bags, blankets, suitcases, and little people arms. They find the world facinating and want to see and experience it all.“.

She shares the free pattern and instructions on how to make your own little Summer Traveler softie.This would make a great beginner project and you could re-use felted woollens or fleece (e.g. blankets, jackets).
