Making soft toys (or softies)/plush/stuffed toys, has been a much loved craft for many centuries. Softies are adored by small children and collected by big children 
The craft is currently enjoying a renewed resurgence in popularity as sentiment turns to bringing fond memories and paraphenalia from childhood into the modern life. Almost everybody you talk to has a favourite softie from their childhood - do you remember yours?
Making softies is not a difficult craft - in fact it can be easy and rewarding once you know the basics. And from first-hand experience, I can attest to how fun and liberating it is to bring characters on paper into 3D.
